LEBC hold the National Citizen Service (NCS) programme for Leicestershire.
NCS is a 4 week personal development programme for anybody aged 16 and 17 and up to 24 with any additional needs. 2 weeks are residential (Monday to Friday) with week 1 being at an Outdoor Pursuit Centre taking part in activities to develop communication skills and week 2, at University where they take part in activities helping them to develop their employability skills and their soft skills.
The last 2 weeks of the programme will see the young people pick a local community project to support which we call social action. This would involve them coming up with ideas to help fundraise and/or raise awareness of a charity or it could be to revamp an area.
Last summer our NCS participants in Leicestershire raised £50,000 for local charities in just 6 weeks! We also run shorter programmes during the Autumn term which may appeal to young people who can't commit to a whole 4 weeks in the summer.
We can also work with schools and colleges to set up bespoke NCS programmes tailored to the needs of the young people e.g. SEN, Sixth Form and Vocational Courses. Find out more at www.ncsyes.co.uk
