Leicestershire Shared Lives Carers

The Shared Lives services is a great alternative to home care or residential care.  It's suitable for all adults aged 18 plus whether young or old who have permanent or age related disabilities or medical conditions.  The service can also provide support to young adults 18 plus who are preparing for adulthood (Transitions) to encourage independent living skills and training or participating in leisure activities or work experience.

Individuals can visit their Shared Lives carer on a regular basis or move in with them for short, overnight breaks or on a more permanent basis to share their family home and access community life, leisure and other activies.  Shared Lives carers are unable to provide personal care.

Shared Lives carers are self employed and DBS checked but recruited, trained and monitored by Leicestershire County Council.  Carers are matched to an individual's needs and preferences.  The Leicestershire Shared Lives service is registered with and monitored by the CQC.
