Children and family wellbeing centres (formerly known as Sure Start children’s centres) are local centres that offer help and support to all families with babies and children from pregnancy until they go to school. Midwives, Health Visitors and other staff are often on hand in the centres to provide help and guidance to support you and your child’s development.
Some examples of the services our centres provide are:
baby clinics
play sessions
parenting support, including breast feeding, weaning and nutrition and behaviour management
baby massage
immunisation and vaccinations
drop-in sessions
Some extra services are targeted and restricted to families who need additional support.
We:
support parents before and after birth to help them feel prepared and ready to cope with being a new parent
give help and advice for parents and their babies including breastfeeding support, baby massage and support to access their free childcare
help support children’s speech, language and communication give support to families experiencing anxiety or depression during pregnancy and their child’s first year
help to develop parent’s skills and experiences to build confidence in learning new things and preparing for work
give support to families affected by Domestic Abuse
give support for young parents
