Overnight roadworks for the A511 Major Road Network scheme
To reduce impact on road users, overnight lane closures will be in place to enable underground surveying as part of the enabling works from January till April, 2026. No full road closures are planned; all roads will remain open with managed traffic flow.
Planned survey timetable
Lane closures will be in place between 8pm and 5am.
Temporary traffic signals, when required, will operate after 10pm.
If traffic flows remain high, the installation of signals will be delayed until conditions are quieter.
All traffic management will be removed by 5am each morning. Please note dates are subject to change.

Why there are temporary road closures
As part of the A511 Major Road Network (MRN) scheme, Taylor Woodrow, the appointed contractor for Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) works, will be undertaking essential Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) surveys at various junctions along the A511 corridor. GPR is a non-invasive geophysical method used to detect and map objects, changes in material and voids beneath the surface. This method will prevent digging or drilling, therefore preserving the site and reduce disruption. Noise and light will also be kept to a minimum whilst the surveys take place.
These surveys provide critical data to ensure the safe delivery of the scheme and inform future network enhancements, reducing risks and improving long-term road user safety.
