Report a childcare worker or volunteer

Leicestershire Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) service respond to allegations against staff and volunteers who work with children and young people. You should report an adult if you have concerns or allegations against them.

Report an individual

You should contact the LADO if you believe a person who works with or has responsibility for children, in connection with their employment or voluntary activity, has:

  • behaved in a way that has harmed, or may have harmed, a child
  • possibly committed a criminal offence against, or related to, a child
  • behaved or may have behaved in a way that indicates they may be unsuitable to work with children (based on the Keeping Children Safe in education Guidance 2024 | GOV.UK)

If an allegation meets any of the above criteria, the employer or agency should report it to the LADO within 1 working day.

Reports should not be delayed while you are collecting further information.
