We have a wide range of full-time and part-time opportunities available across Leicestershire, whether you’re experienced or new to care. 

Working in our team

We are part of the Adults and Cultural Services at Leicestershire County Council.

We provide essential in-house services, including overnight short breaks (respite) and supported living services, for adults with learning disabilities. 

Our Short Breaks services 

Our Short Breaks services are purpose built and specialise in providing planned, meaningful support for adults with a learning disability. They help people to: 

  • try new activities 
  • build independence 
  • enjoy time away from home 

They also give families and carers time to rest and recharge. 

We offer flexible support to meet a range needs and preferences, including support during times of crisis. This ensures people can access the right help, at the right time. 

We accommodate up to 24 people across three locations: 

  • Melton Mowbray 
  • Hinckley 
  • Wigston 

You will be part of the core team at one location. 

Our Supported Living services 

Our Supported Living services help people live independently in their own homes.  
 
We support up to 35 people across four locations: 

  • Melton Mowbray 
  • Wigston 
  • Loughborough 
  • Sileby 

Some individuals may choose to live in self-contained flats, or in shared homes with their own private spaces. 

You will work as part of a core team at one specific location or scheme. 

Become a Support Worker 

As a Support Worker, you will: 

  • follow personalised care plans 
  • attend to individuals' personal care and hygiene needs with sensitivity and respect 
  • assist with day-to-day financial and domestic support, as well as other daily living activities 
  • accompany people on journeys to medical appointments, shopping trips, and social activities  

You’ll be integral in supporting people achieve their goals, ensuring an environment that promotes independence, individuality, and dignity. Every day will bring new opportunities to make a positive impact. 

Skills and qualifications 

You do not need previous experience or qualifications. We provide a comprehensive induction and training programme to ensure you have the skills to deliver high-quality care. 

We’re looking for Support Workers with: 

  • empathy and compassion 
  • the ability to understand and follow procedures to deliver consistent and high-quality care. 
  • strong communication and listening skills to maintain good care records.  
  • the ability to maintain confidentiality 
  • the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team working and with others 

Work life balance 

Work life balance is important to us and that is why we have part-time and full-time opportunities available. 

All roles are on a shift / rota basis and include evening and weekend work. Service rotas are organised well in advance, with two non-working days per week and alternate weekends off work.
