Six people required for advisory role

Independent people are being recruited to give their views on future complaints made about county councillors and the dismissal of senior officers.

Leicestershire County Council must seek the views of independent advisors before it makes a decision on cases relating to potential breaches of the code of conduct, or any proposal to dismiss a chief officer.

Six people are required and applicants should have:

 

  • A working knowledge/experience of local government or the political process
  • A strong commitment to high standards and ethics
  • The ability to analyse complex situations and understand legal requirements
  • The ability to take a fair and objective viewpoint and arrive at balanced judgements
  • The ability to communicate effectively and operate in co-operation with others

Applications are not permitted from anyone who has been a county councillor or county council officer during the last five years, is a friend of a councillor or officer, or who is engaged in local political activity.

The appointments will be for a fixed term of four years.  Travel and subsistence allowances will be payable.
