A collection of endearing hand-drawn posters by children who are part of fostering families in Leicestershire is being shared.
Children in care and birth children of foster carers, aged between eight and 14, took part in the creative project and reflected on their best memories and proudest moments of 2025. They also shared what they were looking forward to in 2026.
One child shared how she helped with her foster sister’s first birthday party and saw her face light up when she danced with Paddington Bear.
Another spoke about looking forward to ‘Fostival 2026’ – a celebration event that Leicestershire County Council runs in the summer which brings together council staff, foster carers, kinship carers and children in care.
Others reflected on spending time with their families, enjoying quality time on family holidays and taking part in active hobbies.
“These drawings are endearing and really strike a chord. They are lovely to see as we enter such a reflective time of the year.
“It’s extremely important to us that we amplify the voices of all children living within our fostering families at every opportunity we get. They are the very core of the fostering service.
“We’d love to hear from more families who can help nurture a child and create lasting memories they will carry with them.
“If you’re interested in fostering to get in touch with our friendly team to find out how it could fit into your life in 2026.”
