Short breaks for carers

There are a number of residential providers for the in-house short breaks service.

In-house short breaks accommodation

The short breaks service is part of a range of services designed for you to enjoy experiences away from your primary carers; contributing to your personal and social development and reducing isolation. It also provides your carers a break from their invaluable roles.

*The service is available to those who are eligible through a social care assessment or have been referred by a relevant professional authority. We currently have 3 locations:

Carlton Drive  |  Melton  |  The Trees

 

During our short breaks pre-admission process, we can consider requests for people to access our in-house activities or continue with their current day service arrangements. 

You can bring personal items and belongings to suit your individual choice and personalise your stay with us. You can also assist in meal preparation and other daily living activities alongside trained staff.

We also use care technology throughout the buildings to enhance service delivery and promote independence.

Carlton Drive Short Breaks Service

Provides a personalised overnight short breaks (respite) service for adults with:

  • Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD)
  • sensory impairment
  • physical disabilities

Facilities include:

  • 7 single occupancy bedrooms (en-suite) with fitted ceiling track hoists
  • adapted wheelchair access
  • specialist equipment on-site
  • communal lounges with dining facilities and 2 kitchens
  • fully integrated sensory room
  • accessible baths with spa functions
  • accessible and adapted shower/toilet facilities
  • laundry facilities
  • free wi-fi internet and equipment to facilitate video calls/conferencing

Melton Short Breaks Services

  • specialist equipment on-site
  • 3 large communal/dining spaces and 2 kitchens
  • fully integrated sensory room
  • laundry facilities
  • accessible baths with spa functions
  • adapted shower/toilet facilities
  • free wi-fi internet and equipment to facilitate video calls/conferencing

  • specialist sensory and accessible baths with Bluetooth technology and spa functions
