Who can register a death
Deaths that have taken place in Leicestershire should register with us.
If the death happened in Leicester, please Register a death with Leicester City Council.
Most deaths occur in a house, a hospital or a residential / nursing home. In order of preference, a death may be registered by:
- a relative (including the partner or representative of the deceased)
- a person present at the death
- the occupier of the house or institution where the death took place
- the person who is instructing the funeral director or a representative of the deceased
