• wear face coverings in crowded and enclosed spaces
• wash hands often
• get your vaccine/booster when you’re eligible

Help for young carers

If you're 18 and under and you look after someone at home, you can get help with care and your school work.

Someone to talk to and activities

There are many other young people who look after someone in their family. There are telephone helplines, online forums where you can find someone to talk to. And there are groups you can go to, to get a break from home.

Someone to talk to

There are people you can talk to, ask questions of or share your experience with including:

  • The Children and Families Wellbeing Service offers group work, virtual and online support and one to one or whole family support.
  • The Mix - a free, online or confidential helpline service for young people under 25 who need someone to talk to, but don't know where to turn. Telephone for free: 0808 808 4994. The mix website has information, advice and online discussion boards as well as Apps to help you with the challenges you may be facing.
  • Sibs – for brothers and sisters of disabled children
