Barwell Recycling and Household Waste Site

Barwell is one of 14 recycling and household waste sites in Leicestershire. Site users must keep children and pets in cars at all times and be alert and aware of other vehicles and pedestrians on the site.

Waste site updates

Check the web page for your intended waste site before you visit. Please arrive at least 10 minutes before closing time.

From 30 January 2023 Mountsorrel and Oadby sites will be unable to accept gas bottles/cylinders. Please look out for any updates.

From 23 January 2023 Melton Mowbray RHWS will be unable to accept the following items for approximately three weeks due to essential site works:

  • Engine oil, TVs and monitors, large domestic appliances (washing machines, dryers, fridges, freezers). These items can be disposed of at Mountsorrel waste site.

From 1 January 2023 Bottesford, Somerby and Lutterworth will not accept upholstered furniture. All other sites in Leicestershire will be accepting this material, but will have limited capacity.

Bagged compost: our supplier for bagged compost has ceased trading and we're considering alternative options. Bagged compost is still available at the following sites: Bottesford, Loughborough, Melton Mowbray, Mountsorrel, Shepshed and Whetstone.

Weekends: Before setting off, check our website for opening hours, check our Twitter or Facebook for the latest updates. Please note:

  • Weekends are usually quite busy. Sometimes we're unable to accept certain materials and, in extreme cases, may have to close sites until there is sufficient capacity to run them safely.
  • We plan for busy periods, but urge you to think about when to visit your waste site, to avoid delays.
