Information requests - complaints

If you’re not happy with how we’ve dealt with your subject access or Freedom of Information request, you can complain and ask us to review our decisions

Where possible we will try to resolve your concerns informally; for example by:

  • explaining in more detail the reasons for withholding any of the requested information
  • clarifying any exemptions that we applied to the information

Internal review

If it’s not possible to resolve your concerns informally you can ask us to carry out an internal review.

We will acknowledge your complaint in writing and give you a date for when we will complete the review, which is normally within 20 working days.  If we think it might take longer we will contact you.

The internal review will be carried out by a member of staff that was not involved in the original request.

Where an internal review finds mistakes in how we handled your original request, we will improve our procedures and/or staff training as soon as we can.

If you’re not satisfied with the result of the internal review you can complain to the Information Commissioner.
