Book a computer to use at a library

PC access is still available at our 16 main libraries for essential use only. 

Essential use helps us to keep customers and staff safe and includes:

  • Those who have no internet access at home.
  • Applying for a job or writing a CV.
  • Making a universal credit application.

In line with Government guidelines on COVID-19 the following changes have been made to this service:

  • Computers are for essential use only.
  • The number of computers available at each site has been reduced to allow for social distancing.
  • All slots are for one hour only. This is to allow for cleaning in between sessions.
  • You must wear a face covering for the duration of your session, unless you are exempt.
  • Customers can book one hour-long slot per day. 
  • Bookings can be made either online or through a member of staff in the library.
  • No more than one customer is allowed at a PC at any one time.
  • Staff support using the PCs will not be available due to social distancing.
  • You can book a computer up to two weeks in advance.

You will need your library card and PIN

Book a computer 

Library members are allowed a maximum of 1 hour per day free computer use.

Printout charges per side: black and white A4 25p, A3 (where available) 50p; colour A4 50p, A3 £1.

If you have booked a computer you will be able to log-on at your pre-booked time using your library card and PIN. The computer will show your name.

You can ask staff at any library to reset your PIN or contact us on 0116 305 2695, email

If you know your library card number and registered your email address when you joined the library, you can also reset it online by visiting the online library catalogue, selecting ‘log in’ and ‘forgot my PIN’.
