At Whispering Trees the focus is on mental health and wellbeing. We promote connections with nature, plants, animals, self and other people and consequently support engagement with learning. The staff are qualified and experienced in teaching and /or therapeutic interventions. An ex Headteacher / Groupwork Practitioner, School Senior Leader, Further Education Lecturer, Business Manager, Occupational Therapist, Animal-Assisted Interventionalists, Holistic Therapist and Integrated Psychotherapist make up the team. The site is semi-rural and consists of 4 acres of land, a 5-roomed log cabin, 3 poly tunnels and a greenhouse. It is home to miniature horses, goats, small animals, ducks and chickens. Many of our activities are outdoor. Whispering Trees offers a person-centred experience within a day community setting. The promoted ethos is one of acceptance, relaxation, engagement and compassion for self and others through which participants have the opportunity to progress towards more constructive thinking about the future, impacting positively on personal relationships, education, career and place within society. Children participate 3 days per week; 2 days are reserved for adults.
