Appropriate adults

Appropriate adult volunteers support young people aged 10-18 through the police interview process when a family member is unable. Their role is to ensure that young people are treated fairly, have their rights protected, and receive appropriate support during legal proceedings.

If you would like to know more about the role and how to apply, please email youthoffendingservice@leics.gov.uk

Community Panel

Community Panel members sit on a Referral Order Panel following an outcome from a court. They help plan the work the child will engage in and agree hours of reparation.

If you would like to know more about the role and how to apply, please email youthoffendingservice@leics.gov.uk

Family Hubs

Family Hubs volunteers support families in a variety of meaningful ways. Whether you're passionate about working with children, young people, parents, or the wider community, there's a role for you:

Early years
Help create a fun and safe environment for young children by leading Stay & Play sessions, setting up engaging activities, welcoming families, and supporting early development through play and interaction.

Young people
Support young people through one-on-one mentoring, helping them build confidence, navigate school transitions, and set personal goals. Volunteers provide encouragement, guidance, and a consistent presence in a young person’s life.

Parents
Offer guidance and a listening ear to parents through peer support groups, parenting workshops, or one-on-one support. Volunteers may help facilitate discussions, share resources, or assist with signposting to services.

Community
Play a key role in tackling food insecurity and building connections by helping to run our Community Fridge. Volunteers assist with stocking, organising donations, welcoming visitors, and ensuring the space is inclusive and accessible to all.

If you would like to know more about these roles and how to apply, please email volunteering@leics.gov.uk
