New video highlights growing county

Leicestershire’s population is set to grow by 20 per cent over the next few years, highlighting the need for increased planning for the future.

Housing development growth

Leicestershire is growing – and a new video is showcasing how we are shaping the county of tomorrow.

With new homes and business space being created across Leicestershire, we’re supporting communities by putting the right infrastructure in the right place.

From schools to transport, we’re creating a 21st century county and working closely with district councils, developers, and others.

This includes investing £100 million over the last five years to create an extra 5,000 school places, including six new schools.

Over £15 million has also been invested in new residential accommodation, supporting older people those with learning disabilities and those living with mental health conditions.

Other achievements include the creation of the £3 million Snibston Colliery Park, expanding green space across the county, the rollout of superfast broadband to 75,000 houses, hundreds supported into skills and employment and the advancement of the East Midlands freeport.
