Leicestershire County Council has announced a series of road improvements as work continues on the development of Castle Acres, a large expansion of Fosse Park on the site of the former Everards brewery.

Works are due to start on Monday, 1st June and will take place at Fosse Park West, on the site of the former Everard Brewers and on Leicester’s Outer Ring Road (A563). The works are required as part of planning obligations for the development.

This is one of the busiest routes in Leicestershire, and it will only get busier as Fosse Park develops. These road improvements are required so that Fosse Park can continue to expand and bring economic growth to Leicestershire without negatively affecting congestion, journey times, vehicle accidents, and air quality.

Our highways team will be working around the clock to ensure these works are completed as soon as possible. We apologise for the inconvenience these works will cause, we encourage people to visit the website to familiarise themselves with the closures before making their journeys.

The works are due to last up to 20 weeks with a schedule of both daytime and night-time working. Initial works start with a series of lane closures, which is hoped to have minimal disruption to journeys. This will be followed by road closures to allow the installation of a new traffic signal system and road resurfacing.

Diversions will be in place, routes will be clearly signposted and will be available to view before closures on the Castle Acres web page.

The expansion plans by Crown Estates for Fosse Park include new units and a food court with work planned to be completed by October 2020.
