Thorpe Road closure for essential work

Essential road work in Melton starts on Monday 4 March

The improvement work will mean some temporary road closures.

Essential work required for a new housing development on part of the Melton hospital site starts on Monday (4 March) with the closure of Thorpe Road.

For full details of the closure, including a one-way diversion route, visit the one.network website.

The council has also been in touch with the developer, Snowden Homes, to ensure all the work is completed by Friday, 15 March, or that Thorpe Road is made safe so it can be re-opened for the Junior CiCCle Classic event.

The event organisers have also been updated on the position.

A spokesperson for the county council said: “This is essential work being carried out by the developer and is linked to carriageway improvement and drainage work. Unfortunately, some disruption is unavoidable.

“We do work hard, however, to minimise disruption on the road network and have worked closely with the developer.”

The proposed alternative diversion routes will also be signed on site and parking restrictions will be in place as required.
