Royal Voluntary Service (RVS)

When you need more support than usual after returning home following a hospital stay in Leicester City, Leicestershire or Rutland, RVS volunteers can help you to get back on your feet and feel confident to remain independent.

If you are being discharged from hospital or were discharged within the last 6 weeks, our volunteers can provide support for a period of up to 12 weeks depending on your needs. We can support you in a practical way such as taking you shopping, making new connections with the local community or IT guidance and one to one exercise to improve functional muscle strength and balance.

The RVS provides patient transport for oncology (cancer treatment) appointments where confidence or mobility issues can make it difficult to attend on time eg if you are using public transport or live in a rural area with limited transport.

RVS volunteers also run social clubs and activities, exercise classes and hobby groups, lunch clubs and community cafés. These are warm, welcoming places to meet up with friends old and new, enjoy refreshments and interesting activities and learn new skills.
