University of the Third Age (U3A)

The U3A is a membership charity for people in their third age whether retired or semi-retired - the third age being a stage in life rather than a specific age. The U3A provides the opportunity for lifelong learning in its broadest sense, enabling members to share their interests, knowledge and skills by learning from each other. This keeps the mind and body active, raises self-esteem and forges new friendships.

The U3A is open to everyone in their third age however you do need to be capable of participating in interest groups. U3As are totally volunteer led organisations and cannot provide personal care.  Local groups are independently operated and the range of activities is is up to the members to decide and provide.

You can find out where all the U3A groups are in Leicestershire and Rutland at www.landru3a.org.uk.  Links to all the Leicestershire and Rutland U3A websites can be found here.
