Critical incidents and educational settings
We provide different levels of critical incident support to educational settings based on the nature of the incident.
Level 1: Expected bereavement and loss
- Telephone conversation with Senior Leadership Team (SLT)
- Signposting to resources and Leicestershire Educational Psychology Service (LEPS) training
- Possible visit of the Educational Psychologist as necessary
Level 2: Critical incident (sudden/traumatic loss)
- Telephone conversation with Senior Leadership Team (SLT)
- Team of two or more Educational Psychologists to visit school and support SLT with their management of the incident and support the wider school community
Level 3: Major incident/emergency
- LEPS response may be part of a larger multi-agency response from Leicestershire County Council
- LEPS involvement coordinated by the Principal Educational Psychologist (PEP) / senior educational psychologists (SEPs) in conjunction with partner agencies
An incident or sequence of events which overwhelms the normal coping mechanisms of the school community.
