Waste site updates

Winter opening hours – 9am to 4pm, from 1 October, on the days sites are usually open (last admittance, no later than 3.55pm).

Mountsorrel site will be closed from 27 October to early December for improvement works.

Due to a temporary reduction in operating days: Lutterworth site is only open Thursday to Saturday, Oadby site is only open Sunday to Wednesday.

Check if you need a permit

You'll need a permit if you're using a:

  • Van, pick-up truck or any vehicle designed or altered to transport goods
  • Trailer 4 foot 6 inches (1.37 metres) long or over (from front board to back board)

Key facts about temporary garden and household waste permits:

  • Permits are free of charge
  • Valid for 14 days at one site
  • Permits are registered to one person and one vehicle – they are non-transferable
  • Permits are emailed to you the day before the start date

There is a charge to dispose of certain non-household waste

You can apply for a temporary garden and household waste permit online - your permit will be emailed to you.
