Waste site updates
10 November: following completion of the works, the Oadby site has reopened.
1 October: Winter closing times of 4pm have come into effect.
- Asbestos - temporarily cannot be accepted at the Whetstone site.
- Gas cylinders - temporarily cannot be accepted at the Whetstone site.

From 7 October: Altered opening hours at Whetstone Transfer Station - business or commercial waste.
Check if you need a permit
You'll need a permit if you're using a:
- Van, pick-up truck or any vehicle designed or altered to transport goods
- Trailer 4 foot 6 inches (1.37 metres) long or over (from front board to back board)
Key facts about temporary garden and household waste permits:
- Permits are free of charge
- Valid for 14 days at one site
- Permits are registered to one person and one vehicle – they are non-transferable
- Permits are emailed to you
