Flooding drop-in sessions are taking place in Sileby and Coalville this October.
Open to both residents and businesses, the sessions will give people a chance to speak directly with key agencies — including the Environment Agency, Severn Trent and Leicestershire County Council, which will be attending in its roles as Lead Local Flood Authority (LLFA) and Local Highway Authority (LHA).
Both agencies will be offering insight into flood-related work that’s planned or already taken place this year and will offer advice on how to be prepared against flooding.
The FloodPod, a trailer packed with real life flood resilience items designed for properties will also be at the events along with Flood Mary – giving people a chance to meet Mary who has experienced flooding first hand and see the range of measures on offer to help homes and businesses protect against flooding, or recover more quickly from it.
Both events take place in early October:
- Thursday 2 October – Century Theatre, Ashby Road, Coalville, LE67 3LN, 2pm - 6pm
- Thursday 9 October – Sileby Community Centre, 41 High Street, LE12 7RX, 2pm - 6pm
“Leicestershire has seen first-hand how devastating flooding can be. Residents and businesses have been hit incredibly hard in recent years, including back in January.
“All the responsible agencies are working closely together looking at ways to reduce the future impact, and we’re working hard to mitigate flood risk where we can.
“However, we need residents and businesses to play their part in being prepared too – that’s why we’re holding these sessions, so people can find out and see the preventative solutions on offer.
“I’d encourage anyone who has been impacted by flooding, or who wants to learn more about being flood ready to come along.”
