A drop-in information event is being held in Loughborough on Tuesday, April 8 for people wanting to find out more about becoming a specialist foster carer.

Leicestershire County Council is urgently seeking people with professional backgrounds in caregiving to children and young adults to find out more about the role.

Suitable experience could include health care, teaching or policing, or other positions that support children and young people with special educational needs or disabilities (SEND), or complex behavioural or emotional needs. Carers will also need to have a spare bedroom.

The council offers generous payments reflective of the skills and dedication of specialist foster carers, alongside excellent ongoing training and professional development opportunities.

The event will take place from 2:30pm-7pm at The Café, John Storer House, Wards End, Loughborough, LE11 3HA.

The children in our care have experienced a number of challenges growing up and need specialist foster carers to offer an extra level of care, attention, empathy and love to help them develop and reach their full potential.

Specialist foster carers can offer truly life-changing support. So, if you think you have the skills and would like to make a real difference, please do come along to this event and have a chat with the team.

People wanting to find out more about specialist fostering with the council can also visit the specialist fostering webpage, email the fostering team at fostering@leics.gov.uk, or call 0116 305 0505.
