Drop-in sessions for young carers and their families are being held across Leicestershire.

Young people aged 11 or over who are a young carer, or think they may be one, can attend the events at Family Hubs in Braunstone Town, Loughborough and Hinckley

Organised by Leicestershire County Council’s Young Carers Team, they offer a chance to talk about what support young carers and their families need as well as enjoy cake and a drink and take part in a take-home craft activity.

Councillor Dan Harrison, leader of Leicestershire County Council, said: “If you’re a young carer or think you may possibly be one, we’d love to hear from you.

“These drop-ins are a great way for you to have a chat with our team, meet other young carers, share your views and let us know what would help.”

A young carer is someone under the age of 18 who looks after a family member or friend who has a physical or mental health, neurodiversity, drug or alcohol dependency. They may also look after brothers, sisters or elderly relatives too.

Events will take place at:

11am – 1pm, Tuesday, May 27 – Braunstone Town Family Hub, Kingsway North, Braunstone Town, LE3 3BD

11am – 1pm, Saturday, 14 June, Mountfields Lodge Family Hub, Squirrel Way, Loughborough LE11 3DG

5pm – 7pm, Wednesday, 26 June, Hinckley Family Hub, Granville Road, Hinckley, LE10 0PP
