Loughborough Library closing for refurbishment

Smart Library access to be available in Loughborough

a stack of books

Loughborough Library will be closed from Monday, 5 November to Thursday, 3 January for Smart Library access and additional adult learning classrooms to be installed.

The closure will also see new desks for a community meeting space, a new help desk, some additional furniture in the children’s library and a change in layout.

While the refurbishment is taking place, there will be a range of options for local residents to visit alternative libraries. Shepshed Library will have extended opening hours, while there are also four community libraries less than five miles from Loughborough – Hathern, Barrow upon Soar, Mountsorrel and Quorn.

Installing self-access technology gives residents more choice of when they are able to visit the library, catering for a much wider audience. The additional adult learning classrooms will also allow for more adult learning courses to be delivered in the local area.

The mobile library stops in Loughborough and will be available during the closure period. For details of times and dates of mobile stops in the surrounding villages, please go to our website www.leicestershire.gov.uk/libraries

Library users can also visit Syston and Birstall Library where self-access technology has already been installed, allowing for extended opening hours. People wishing to use these services will need to contact their library for a Smart Library induction.
