The Civil Partnerships Regulations 2019, which extend eligibility for forming civil partnerships to opposite sex couples, were approved in Parliament and made on 5 November 2019.
The regulations came into force on 2 December 2019.
Leicestershire Registration Service is now taking / confirming bookings. This allows the civil partnerships under the standard procedure to be formed.
Civil partnerships formed under the special procedure started taking place from 2 December 2019.
