Integrated Rail Plan
The Government’s integrated rail plan sets out for delivering and sequencing major rail investment in the North and Midlands.
November 2021 - Integrated Rail Plan published
The Integrated Rail Plan for the North and East Midlands is the Governments proposal on how they intend to deliver HS2 Phase 2b, including the 30km section through Leicestershire.
December 2020
National Infrastructure Commission, Rail Needs Assessment - Final report December 2020.
The report contained a series of options for the government to consider in its Integrated Rail Plan expected in mid-2021.

May 2020 - LCC evidence submission to the NIC call for evidence
The joint evidence was submitted to the National Infrastructure Commission to help form their Rail Needs Assessment for the Midlands and the North and includes the Leicester Rail Station strategic outline business case.

In February 2020 after the Oakervee review it was recommended for HS2 to continue in full. The Government asked the National infrastructure to produce a Rail Needs Assessment, they started this process through a ‘call for evidence’.
Design refinement consultation
The government consulted on 11 proposed refinements/changes to the Phase 2b design including Realignment of the route between Ashby-de-a-Zouch and Diseworth, Leicestershire, and the temporary construction of a railhead near Ashby de la Zouch. We are still waiting for the outcome of this consultation.

September 2019 - Design Refinement consultation, LCC response
This was the Leicestershire County Council's response to the Department for Transport’s HS2 Phase 2b design refinement consultation, published on 6 June 2019. These proposals set out 11 refinements/changes to the route of HS2 Phase 2b.

The Department for Transport published this consultation including changes to the design and route of the railway through Leicestershire.
On the 20 June 2019 the Cabinet was updated on the consultation and how the changes will affect Leicestershire.

On the 16 October 2018 the Cabinet was updated on the current position on the proposed 30km long High-Speed Rail (HS2) route through Leicestershire and seek approval on the approach to mitigation measures against HS2 impacts. This was also to seek approval to allocate additional resources to deal with the development of HS2 in Leicestershire.

March 2017 - Our response to the consultation

February 2017 - Our cabinet report
The cabinet was updated on the Route Refinement consultation at their meeting on 10 February 2017. Approval was also sought from the cabinet on the adoption of the draft Leicester and Leicestershire Rail Strategy.

November 2016 - 2016 Route Refinement and Property Consultation - HS2 Phase 2b
HS2 Phase 2b Crewe to Manchester, West Midlands to Leeds: property consultation (November 2016)
This consultation began in November 2016 and ran for 16 weeks. Its aim was to seek views on the property compensation and assistance schemes proposed for people affected by the plans for the HS2 Phase 2b route.
