The Specialist Teaching Service is part of the Leicestershire Graduated Offer and offers free support and advice to schools and families about specific areas of SEND.

A child or young person doesn't have to have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) to receive our support and advice.

We also offer specialist training to schools, for which there is a charge.

The Hearing Support and Vison Support teams work with schools, early years settings and other professionals to offer assessment, observation and advice on the impact of hearing or sight loss, and ways to support children to achieve their potential. This may include direct teaching or non-teaching support. The individual level of support by the teams is determined with reference to the National Sensory Impairment Partnership (NatSIP) eligibility framework.

The Autism Outreach team works with school age children through a school referral system. The Early Years Team supports children with Autism below school age.
