Replace a lost or stolen school bus pass

You'll need to apply for a replacement bus pass if your child loses their pass or it is stolen.

You'll need to pay £10 to replace a lost or stolen school bus pass – unless your child goes to a special educational needs school or college.

Apply for a replacement pass

Apply and pay online

You can apply for a replacement bus pass:

  • for a Leicestershire County Council contract bus
  • for a local bus service – if you got it from us
  • issued by another council

Before you apply

Have your credit or debit card ready before you fill in the form.

You’ll also need:

  • name of your child’s school or college
  • number of the bus

Train passes

  • Telephone us on 0116 305 0002
  • We will advise what you need to do next
  • You're limited to 1 replacement train pass in each school year

Special educational needs schools and colleges

Tell the special educational needs school or college your child goes to that your child has lost their bus pass. They will ask us to send you a replacement bus pass.

When you'll get your replacement pass

You'll usually receive your replacement bus pass within 2 working days of us receiving your form and payment.

But you may have to wait up to 2 weeks if you have a:

  • train pass
  • bus pass issued by another council
  • pass for some school buses run by commercial bus and coach companies

Commercial bus or coach company passes and season tickets

Contact the bus or coach company you bought the pass or season ticket from to find out how long you’ll have to wait for a replacement pass or season ticket.

You'll have to ask them if your child can travel while you wait for a replacement pass.

Temporary passes

You may be able to get a temporary pass while you wait for the replacement pass to arrive.

School contract busses

If your child uses a Leicestershire County Council contract bus, ask the school office for a temporary pass while you're waiting for the replacement pass to arrive.

Public transport

You can't get a temporary pass if your child's pass is for public buses or trains. You'll have to pay the fare while you're waiting for the replacement pass to arrive.

Report a stolen pass

If your child's bus or train pass has been stolen and you think another pupil might be using it, telephone us on 0116 305 0002
