
Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre is set to roar to life on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 August, with ‘DragonFest’, an exciting event packed full of entertainment and family activities.
Taking place at the Leicestershire County Council-run site near Sutton Cheney, this two-day event will see the site transformed into a historic battlefield with the dragon theme leading the charge.
Revolving around the Welsh dragon found on the standard of Henry Tudor, this event promises to entertain with a dark age puppet show, dragon dance, family battle participation, a dragon egg hunt and the chance to meet Henry Tudor himself.
Families will also get the chance to take part by joining a family battle and visitors can explore the living history camps, have a go at archery and get involved in the dragon-themed crafts.
The award-winning Bosworth exhibition is included in the ticket price of just £10 for adults and £6 for children (under 3’s are free). A variety of themed stalls, and the 1485 Tithe Barn will be open throughout the event for shopping and refreshments.
The county council's Heritage Manager, Suzie Parr, said: “DragonFest is new for 2025 and it’s a fantastic way to spark children’s imagination while commemorating the battles importance in history.
“Events like this, that bring together storytelling, history and folklore, offering great value and give visitors the opportunity to make lasting memories at a great attraction in the heart of”.
Living history events at the battlefield attract hundreds of visitors, re-enactors and traders from across the UK and beyond so booking in advance is advised to avoid disappointment.
Tickets are valid for one day only and include exhibition entry for that day only. Family tickets are also available.
