Join us at our Carers event

Special event to support carers and those who don't realise they're a carer

Hands joined together to represent the carers event

On Monday 5 June 2023, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, the County Council will be hosting a free event in celebration of Carers’ Week (5-11 June), ‘Recognising and Supporting Carers in the Community’.

We are encouraging carers and people who look after someone who could not manage without their support but who perhaps doesn’t recognise themselves as a carer to attend this event. Booking is essential and places can be reserved on the Eventbrite page.

Councillor Christine Radford, cabinet member for adults and communities said: “Carers Week is the ideal opportunity for us all to show our continued support for carers across the county and acknowledge the vital role they play in our communities.”

The event will provide carers with an overview of the support available in their communities, offer carers a space to connect with each other, promote carer wellbeing, as well the opportunity to get information and advice from local organisations.

The event will also see the launch of a new pack promoting carers health and wellbeing with a focus on the importance of mental health – this project is led by Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust.

We are also offering two mindfulness sessions for carers on 6 June, 10:00-11:00am and 7 June, 10:45-11:45am. Both the events on the 6th June and 7th June can be booked on the Eventbrite pages.

Further advice and information for carers can be found on the Carers section of the website.
