Service personnel and their families moving into Leicestershire and Rutland can now access help and support to make relocation less stressful, after Leicestershire County Council launched a groundbreaking new project.
Mission Ready is a new initiative designed to support service personnel and their families as they move into the county. The project is being delivered thanks to a £50,000 grant from the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust grant, which was awarded following a successful bid by the council’s Communities Team.
The Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust provides grants to public and charity sector organisations to support current and former service personnel. It runs the Serving Families on the Move funding programme, which aims to ease the challenges faced by military families who relocate as part of their duties.
The Mission Ready project pulls together many sources of online information and presents them in one clear, easy-to-use place, making it easier for service families to access local support and resources.
The council is delivering the project in collaboration with Leicester City and Rutland County councils, borough and district councils, voluntary and community sector partners, local barracks, and military representatives.
We’re delighted to be leading the way with this innovative project. Service families make huge sacrifices, and Mission Ready will ensure they have the support they need to settle quickly and confidently in Leicestershire.
