Leicester’s Park and Ride services will be running nearly every day in December, making it easier for people to enjoy everything the city centre has to offer this Christmas.

Extra services will be running on all five Sundays in December and Boxing Day – including Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. On those days (December 3, 10, 17, 24, 26 and 31), buses will be running every 15 minutes between 10am and 5.30pm from the sites at Meynell’s Gorse, Enderby and Birstall.

The service is not running on Christmas Day or New Year’s Day, and normal service pattern resumes on Tuesday, 2 January.

Leicester Park and Ride services are the perfect way to travel into the city centre to make the most of the festive season.

Whether it’s for a shopping trip, a day out with the family, visiting the Big Wheel and ice rink in Jubilee Square or just relaxing with friends, the extra services throughout December will make it easier.

Park and Ride is a great value way to travel into the city. I would encourage everyone planning trips into the city centre to leave their cars at one of our three Park and Ride sites and take the bus instead.

Deputy city mayor Cllr Adam Clarke said: “Sundays are a great day to visit the city centre in the run-up to Christmas. It’s a good time to crack on with your Christmas shopping, but it’s also a chance to enjoy the festive atmosphere and all the Christmas activities that will be taking place in the city centre.

“These extra Park and Ride services will make it easier for families to enjoy a Sunday visit to a Christmas craft fair, a spin on the Wheel of Light or a session on the Jubilee Square ice rink, without the hassle of looking for a parking place in the city centre.

“And if you’ve never used Park and Ride in Leicester before, this is a good opportunity to try the services out and discover just how convenient they are.”

  • Group tickets are just £4 for up to five people travelling together in the same car.
  • All three of the Park and Ride sites have free parking for service users, including disabled spaces and parent & child parking.
  • All the buses have free wi-fi on board.
