Who can register a death
Deaths that have taken place in Leicestershire should register with us.
If the death happened in Leicester, please Register a death with Leicester City Council.
You are responsible for registering a death if you are a relative of the deceased either through blood, marriage, civil partnership or adoption.
Other people who can legally register a death are:
- someone who was present at the death
- someone who lives in the house or institution where the death occurred
- a person who is arranging the funeral
