A47 Dodwells Road, Hinckley
Highway maintenance works are planned to start on Monday 14 June 2021 for an estimated period of 17 weeks. Works will be split into phases to try and reduce disruption to road users and businesses.
The project will be undertaken on the A47 Dodwells Road between the A5 roundabout (near McDonald’s) and the Roston Drive/Triumph Motorcycles roundabout.
During this period works will necessitate temporary overnight closures from 8pm to 6am, with a diversion route in place as per the diversion plan under 'Related documents' below.
There will also be a 24-hour road closure required for approximately 2 weeks between Brindley Road and Roston Drive to undertake maintenance to the canal bridge.

Schedule of work
Hanson Contracting are delivering the scheme on behalf of the County Council. See below for schedule of works and road closures due to take place (subject to weather conditions), as of 5 November 2021.
Canal bridge waterproofing – completed Friday 25 June.
Footway works – completed Sunday 24 October (remedial works outstanding).
Carriageway/road resurfacing – completed Tuesday 12 October (remedial works outstanding).
Remedial and other works
- Monday 8 November – carriageway surfacing at Tesco DC access and Brindley Road, and adjacent footway works (8pm to 6am)
A47 Dodwells Road closed from the XPO Logistics access to the Tesco Distribution Centre access. Temporary 3-way traffic signals at Brindley Road junction. - Tuesday 9 November – reinstatement of Tesco pedestrian island (8pm to 6am)
A47 Dodwells Road one-way road closure between the A5 and the Roston Drive/Triumph roundabout. During the one-way road closure traffic will be able to flow north away from the A5 roundabout. All traffic wanting to travel south along Dodwells Road towards the A5 roundabout will have to follow the diversion route. - Wednesday 10 November – eastern footway surfacing at various locations from Brindley Road to Teal Business Centre, road and footway markings, bridge deck joints at canal bridge (8pm to 6am)

During the night shifts, access will not be permitted within each phase without prior arrangement and only if safe and feasible to do so. Therefore, be aware you will not be able to access parts of the road for considerable periods of time to protect the workforce, public and prevent damage to freshly laid hot surfaces.
Road closure points will be in place at the McDonald's access and Roston Drive roundabout as well as at each phase, traffic marshals will be in place to assist with access.
