  • The Lord-Lieutenant 

    The Lord-Lieutenant is the Queen’s representative in the county.

  • Armed Forces Day 

    Armed Forces Day will take place on 27 June 2020 and is a way for us to show our support to the Armed Forces family.

  • VE Day 75 

    Friday 8 May 2020 marks 75 years since VE (Victory in Europe) Day when the Second World War came to an end in Europe.

  • VJ Day 75 

    Saturday 15 August 2020 marks 75 years since VJ Day (Victory over Japan), the day Japan surrendered on 15 August 1945 effectively ending the Second World War.

  • The Chairman 

    The 2021 - 2022 Chairman is Dan Harrison, he is the 46th since the council began in 1889.

  • The Vice-Chairman 

    The Vice-Chairman for 2021 - 2022 is Dr Kevin Feltham.

  • 2019 Lord-Lieutenant's award ceremony

  • Honorary Aldermen of the County Council 

    In 2005, the council agreed to appoint Honorary Aldermen. The title recognises exceptional service of people who have reached the end of their political careers.
