The Lord-Lieutenant is the King’s representative in the county.

The 2024-25 Chairman is Joe Orson, he is the 48th since the council began in 1889.

The Vice Chairman for 2024- 25 is Richard Shepherd.

The county council is proud to support members of the Armed Forces and their families in Leicestershire.

In 2005, the council agreed to appoint Honorary Aldermen. The title recognises exceptional service of people who have reached the end of their political careers.
