When you can take over decisions that your parent/carer would usually make
- You need to be over compulsory school age, which is at the end of the school year that you become 16.
- Your right to make decisions could be affected by your mental capacity - for example, how well you would be able to manage your own money and budget.
Different types of budgets
- Personal health budget – this is for your NHS health care and support needs
- Personal budget - this is for your social care and support needs (if aged 16 - 17)
- If you are aged 18 and over, adult personal budgets
How to manage your budget
- You can ask your support work or, if you are still in full time education, your teacher to teach you how to manage a budget
