An amber weather warning for heavy rain has been issued for Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland ahead of the arrival of Storm Claudia for Friday 14th November.
A yellow weather warning for wind and rain is also in place for Saturday.
An Environment Agency flood alert has already been issued for the Lower River Soar in Leicestershire.
Other areas expected to be affected by possible flooding are:
- The Upper Soar catchment
- Rothley Brook and Quorn Brook
- River Wreake
- Tributaries in Leicester City
- Loughborough
- Local tributaries of the River Soar
If your home or business is in one of these areas, there’s still time to:
- Sign up for flood alerts
- Move valuables to upper floors
- Check emergency plans and keep a list of emergency numbers in a safe, accessible place
If flooding happens, remember to:
- Listen for updates on local radio/ TV and check live travel updates before heading out
- Avoid unnecessary journeys and never walk or drive through flood water
- Turn off the electricity supply, if your property begins to flood
