The Lord-Lieutenant of Leicestershire invites you to join in the fun to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II
Place: Jubilee Square, Leicester, LE1 5LD
Date: Wednesday, 1 June 2022
Time: From 6.30pm
Join us for an exciting launch to the four-day Jubilee Bank Holiday weekend in the heart of historic Leicester, for what promises to be an exceptional musical party!
The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee marks 70 years and seven decades of service from 1952–2022 and to celebrate this momentous occasion a spectacular dance extravaganza, featuring some of the best local dance performers, will take place from 19.52–20.22 (7.52pm to 8.22pm).
Seven dance groups have each choreographed a stunning dance routine to a medley of iconic music tracks from the seven decades of the Queen’s reign.
The performance will take place to a backdrop of Royal pictures from the last 70 years - including many of Her Majesty’s hugely popular visits to Leicester and Leicestershire stretching from her first in 1954 to her most recent in 2018.
The finale to the extravaganza promises to be an explosion of movement and sound right across Jubilee Square guaranteed to get everybody singing and dancing along!
A variety show featuring a diverse mixture of musical talent including choirs, bands, singers and dancers from the wonderful mix of Leicester’s ethnic cultures will provide a warmup to the main event.
The whole event will be broadcast by BBC Radio Leicester and the event is supported by both Leicester City and Leicestershire County Council, De Montfort and Leicester Universities and Curve.
Come along and join in the fun – and it’s all free!
